How I Set Off on TpT with a Map from a Tiny World – And Why I Haven’t Given Up Yet

My name is Tereza, and yes – I’m a retired teacher.
But if you think “retired” means quiet, still, and done… well, you’d be slightly mistaken.
I’m a teacher who spent thirty years creating in a small classroom in a small country.
A country many wouldn’t even find on the map – Croatia.
Ever heard of Croatia?
Do you know where it is – or have you even been there?
If yes, I’d love to hear! And if not – well, now you know where I’m writing from.
But you know what? It’s exactly that Croatia, with its classrooms, children’s handwriting, and the smell of fresh photocopies, that gave me something precious:
A passion for learning and creating.

So how did I end up on TpT?
Honestly? I have no idea.
Maybe it was like someone signing up for a pottery class one evening – I just signed up for Teachers Pay Teachers.
I knew I was a drop in the ocean – thousands of American teachers, English not being my native language, algorithms, competition, marketing… all of it.
But I also knew something else:
I know how to work with children.
I know what works in a classroom.
And I love doing it.

Small Country, Big Questions
Sometimes I wonder:
“Who will notice one of my little worksheets among thousands? Who would even care about a teacher from a tiny school on the other side of the world?”
And then I remind myself – it’s not about downloads or followers.
It’s about this:
Maybe one of my worksheets, one of my ideas, will help one teacher, somewhere.
Save them time. Spark an idea.
Make their day a little easier, brighter, more meaningful.
And that’s enough for me to keep going.

What if I don’t succeed?
I don’t know. Maybe I won’t.
But I know this: I love doing this.
And one more thing: I want to encourage others – those quiet, hardworking, creative teachers from smaller countries and non-English-speaking places.
If I can find the courage to show up on a global platform – so can you.

My Motto
My store is called Hurry up Slowly.
And that’s no accident.
It’s my rhythm: go slowly, but never stop.
If you’ve ever felt too small for big stories – welcome.
This is where mine begins.
And maybe, someday, yours too.
