From Classroom Clay to Christmas Magic: The Story Behind Our Santa Jars

Years ago, I came across a simple but powerful thought:

“A teacher doesn’t have to be an artist to teach Art.”

That sentence stayed with me through countless lessons – and became the reason I never stopped bringing creativity into my classroom, even when art wasn’t my strongest skill.

Over time, I began pairing stories and art projects, letting literature flow into visual expression. Some lessons turned out better than others – but every time, the children’s enthusiasm reminded me that creativity doesn’t live in perfection. It lives in joy, laughter, and surprise.

One of those moments was our Santa Claus clay modeling project. We used recycled jars, sculpted, laughed, and turned them into something more than decoration – each jar became a little secret keeper, a place for notes, memories, and small treasures.

That’s how this resource was born: a mix of reading, writing, and art – filled with humor, imagination, and the kind of warmth that lasts long after the holidays.
